[HanCinema's News] Seo Yea-ji Hit With Bullying Allegations

A bad week for actress Seo Yea-ji took a turn for the worse with the revival of rumors that she engaged in bullying behavior back in middle school. The original allegations date to February, though they were annoyed at that time. A person claiming to be the then-thirty something mother of children from Seo Yea-ji's school district claims that the actress was notorious for going into violent rages against classmates that did not abate until after middle school, when she had double eyelid surgery and made new friends.

Though the commenter did not see this behavior personally, she claimed that her now adult child recognized very similar mannerisms in the drama "Save Me" which starred Seo Yea-ji in a leading role. The new prominence of the allegation is likely because Seo Yea-ji is already in a major public relations fiasco with new texts confirming that she had a secret relationship with actor Kim Jung-hyun back in 2018. Purportedly, she manipulated him into wrecking "Time - Drama" with unreasonable demands.

Seo Yea-ji has flatly denied the bullying allegation, while claiming that the relevant texts only show evidence of a lover's spat, not unprofessional conduct. Despite these protestations of innocence, Seo Yea-ji did not appear at the press screening for her upcoming movie "Recalled" on April 13th, with the reason given being that she did not want to answer questions on the alleged manipulation issue. "Island - Drama" also issued a statement claiming that Seo Yea-ji has not yet been confirmed for the blockbuster adaptation.

Previous reports had claimed that Kim Nam-gil and Seo Yea-ji were cast for the leading roles. However, as the drama is still early in production, their contracts have most likely not been finalized. It is unclear whether these ongoing controversies will be enough to expel Seo Yea-ji from the project. "Recalled" is still set to premiere on April 21st, with that project having long been finished and the allegations not yet having risen to the level where such extreme action is seen as necessary.
