2 Korean Films Make Cannes' Official Selections List

Two Korean films have been included in the line-up of this year's Cannes Film Festival in France.

Director Yeon Sang-ho's "Peninsula" and Im Sang-soo's "Heaven: To the Land of Happiness" are among the Official Selection list of 56 films chosen from 2,067 submissions. The list was unveiled on Wednesday.

There are no competition and non-competition categories this year, as the awards ceremony originally slated for May has been canceled due to the coronavirus epidemic. Instead, the selected films will be screened at other international festivals in Berlin, Busan and Venice in the fall and released in cinemas under the Cannes 2020 label.

"Peninsula", starring Gang Dong-won and Lee Jung-hyun, is a sequel to Yeon's 2016 zombie flick "Train to Busan". The film is set four years after the events of the first film.

"Heaven: To the Land of Happiness", starring Choi Min-sik and Park Hae-il, revolves around two men who go on a journey to find happiness.

French director Francois Ozon's "Été 85", British filmmaker Steve McQueen's "Mangrove" and American director Wes Anderson's "The French Dispatch" also made the list.
