[HanCinema's News] "Exit - Movie" Breaks Nine Million Admissions

According to figures released on September 5th by the Korean Film Council, "Exit - Movie" has just passed the nine million viewer mark. The movie had a total of 29,911 admissions on September 4th, which allowed it to a total of 9,008,147 admissions overall. Lead actor Cho Jung-seok expressed his thanks to fans on social media for this milestone. Lead actress Yoona also said she was thankful and grateful for the support of so many people, pledging to improve her acting in the future.

The continued success of "Exit - Movie" has been thanks to relatively weak competition. "Metamorphosis" and "Tune in for Love" have performed well relative to expectations, but neither has been a breakout hit, and "The Battle: Roar to Victory" has long since faded into irrelevance. Even as the summer is at an end, "Exit - Movie" has built up a strong reputation through word-of-mouth as a generally fun disaster movie.

It remains doubtful that "Exit - Movie" will survive through Korean Thanksgiving weekend. Early reservation figures suggest that there is strong consumer interest in "Tazza: One Eyed Jack", while "Bad Guys: The Movie" and "Cheer Up, Mr. Lee" will also be opening up next week. But for this weekend at least, "Exit - Movie" will be able to put up steady numbers relative to the competition.
