[HanCinema's News] Kim Sejeong the Latest Singer to Take on An Unusual Acting Project in "The Uncanny Counter"

Recently Bae Suzy in "Start Up" and Jung Soo-jung in "Search" have redefined what it means for former singers to take up acting in television dramas. Far from being an obvious fit for their brands, Bae Suzy's role as a brainy entrepreneur in "Start Up" and Jung Soo-jung's role as a soldier in "Search" have shown off very different sides of the actresses. Now Kim Sejeong will follow them in the upcoming drama "The Uncanny Counter".

Based on the webtoon of the same title, "The Uncanny Counter" deals with the titular counters who hunt down evil spirits who have come to Earth from the afterlife. The action packed drama features Kim Sejeong as an esper who acts as the team's radar, being able to briefly read the memories of strangers. The role required quite a bit of physical training on Kim Sejeong's part, echoing Jung Soo-jung's turn as a soldier, while the inherent smarts of her character echoes Bae Suzy's entrepreneur.

Persons representing the production of "The Uncanny Counter" have also explicitly drawn a line between the three actresses, stating that they hope the project will develop Kim Sejeong's image much as "Start Up" and "Search" have developed Bae Suzy and "Jung Soo-jung". It will be the first acting role for Kim Sejeong since "I Wanna Hear Your Song" in 2019. "The Uncanny Counter" will start airing on November 28th in the Saturday/Sunday drama timeslot on OCN following "Search".
