[HanCinema's News] "#ALIVE" Breaks 1.5 Million Mark at South Korean Box Office

According to figures released by the Korean Film Council, "#ALIVE" broke the 1.5 million viewer admissions marks on Sunday July 5th. This follows up "#ALIVE" previously breaking the 1 million mark as it being the first movie to perform so well at the South Korean box office since February, when the COVID-19 outbreak had a chilling effect on the market.

Though "#ALIVE" continues to face no serious competition, dominating over half of online ticket reservations, the pace of the zombie movie's performance has slowed down considerably since its opening weekend. Where its initial opening weekday had numbers of 200,000 admissions, the current weekend only had around 120,000 new admissions per day.

For a sense of comparison, the second best performing movie over the weekend, "Innocence", had only 20,000 new admissions per day over the weekday as it pushed over the 800,000 viewer mark. While the July 24th release of "#ALIVE" is thus doing better in absolute terms, the July 10th release of "Innocence" has done better over time, maintaining more of its presence from a weak opening than "#ALIVE" did over a strong one.
