In a statement Moon Jae-in congratulated director Bong Joon-ho and the rest of the "Parasite" cast and crew for their wins. He described their story as a triumph over adversity, giving inspiration to the people of South Korea and also for spreading the Korean story worldwide. Moon Jae-in was broad in his praise, descibing every individual production role in "Parasite" as one earning international acclaim.
Moon Jae-in also described "Parasite"'s victory as a fitting centennial for the anniversary of South Korean film as a concept. He promised to use the government to help provide all the necessary support for filmmakers to engage in free expression and push the limits of their imagination without fear of reprisal. Moon Jae-in also said that he was already curious about their next project and that the citizens of South Korea would support their future endeavors.
