With the release of "The Day I Died: Unclosed Case" Kim Sun-young once again establishes herself as a solid supporting performer in a wide variety of roles. "The Day I Died: Unclosed Case" is the fifth screen credit for Kim Sun-young this year. This follows roles in "Hospital Playlist", "Kkondae Intern", "Backstreet Rookie", and "Homemade Love Story".

As a woman in her forties Kim Sun-young is perhaps unavoidably typecast with some frequency into the roles of mothers. But 2020 has shown new opportunities for the actress, appearing as both a patient in "Homemade Love Story" as well as a doctor in "Hospital Playlist". And though still a wife, she played an outsized role in "Crash Landing on You", a big hit that carried over from 2019.

Though only a vaguely familiar face to typical fans of South Korean dramas and movies, Kim Sun-young has made an outsized reputation for herself in terms of her ability to evoke strong performances from her co-stars. Director Park Ji-wan has said that it was the combination of Kim Sun-young's performance with Kim Hye-soo that allowed for the most powerful emotional scenes in "The Day I Died: Unclosed Case".

Likewise, Kim Hye-soo has praised Kim Sun-young's talent for allowing her to communicate lively emotions in their shared scenes in the women-centric mystery thriller. Kim Sun-young is six years the junior of Kim Hye-soo. "The Day I Died: Unclosed Case" is set to be released in South Korean theaters on November 12th.
