[Orion's Daily Ramblings] Expensive Decor and Monkey Business in "A Korean Odyssey" Character Posters

I wasn't planning on talking about "A Korean Odyssey" (also known as "Hwayugi") much before its premiere date, but the newly released character posters entertain me greatly. I do love me a simple, yet effective visual concept and this is what these little glimpses into the characters manage to be.

Each poster has a tagline revealing a bit about the pictured role as well as their hidden identities in paintings, but I find the environmental story hints to be the most effective here. We know Lee Seung-gi's Son Oh-gong is a rebellious and cocky fighter, and while he is there sitting pretty, you see the divine mess that is the space around him. I can almost picture a demon moaning and bleeding on a pricey carpet just outside the frame.

The concept stretches across related characters as well. Oh Yeon-seo's Jin Seon-mi is the one who unlocks her protector's abilities and since the heroine has her own powers as well, chaos frames them both. Perhaps the fallen, almost withered flowers are foreshadowing something darker, too.

What I take away from this is a fun cast of characters and the fact that I'd like to bake cookies and watch romantic comedies with Jang Gwang's Yoon Dae-sik. Bring on your misfits, "A Korean Odyssey".
