Professional sports matches including football, baseball and golf have resumed their seasons since early May, but they have been played in empty stadiums for about a month to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Calls to allow crowds have been mounting as teams have struggled financially with ticket and merchandise sales drying up.

The ministry will soon come up with more detailed guidelines in admitting a limited number of spectators starting from this weekend and gradually extend it in coming weeks.

But there is a condition that all tickets must be pre-booked online. Additionally, no food can be allowed in the stadium.
