Job search portal Saramin surveyed 2,708 people aged 20 to 39 and found that 31.5 percent shun jobs that require overtime work at night or the weekend.

The result reflects growing preferences among the younger generation for a balance between life and work.

The second least favored jobs were ones that pay little with 23.5 percent, followed by jobs with rigid, militaristic hierarchies (13.1 percent).

Respondents cited the physical and mental stress such jobs entail, a lack of personal life and worries about job security. But 18.2 percent of the respondents said they would choose to work for such companies if they got an offer, mostly because of the tough job market.
